Week Nine of Theo's internship with Sustainable Princeton

Week nine of my summer internship at Sustainable Princeton began with my continued work on filling out the application for New Jersey’s local government energy audit program (LGEA) that was started last week. As previously stated this program will help the Municipality of Princeton with identifying cost-justified energy-efficiency measures such as building retrofits and possibly a microgrid. With the completion of this audit many options that contribute to the fulfillment of the Municipality of Princeton’s commitment to the Paris climate agreement can be achieved. This, week we focused on filling out some of the other needed details for the application such as the square footage of the building, what year it was built, the year it was last retrofitted, and how many hours the building is open per week.

There were two other major things that happened this week. First, I created a spreadsheet of contact information about each of the new drop off sites for the BYOB program. The spreadsheet includes things such as the physical address, email, phone number, and the name of the person to contact if communication is needed. Second, using some of the money donated to us by McCaffrey’s Food Markets we were able to acquire the ten new bins necessary for the expansion of the BYOB program’s drop off points.

For the tenth week of my internship I plan on both continuing to work on the application for the LGEA energy audit with the goal of hopefully completing it and acquiring the adhesive informational posters for the bins so we can finally set up the additional drop off points for the BYOB program. Overall, this was quite a wonderful week and I am very excited to see what the next week of my internship will bring!
